Sanitation

The City of Douglas contracts with an outside waste management company, Circle Sanitation, for solid waste collection. Public use dumpsters are provided for residents use, and are located on 2nd Ave SW, between the Fire Depaertment and the city shop. As well as, 1st Ave SW, by the Douglas Bar.

Residents are billed a one time a year a fee of $260 . This fee enables the city to provide garbage service to our community. Please see the city Garbage Ordinace for the city's billing and collection process as well garbage restrictions.

The city provides a roll off dumpster to the community for Spring Cleanup in May or June of every year. The city will also try and provide a roll off dumpster in the fall when funds are sufficient to do so.

Trash pick up days from Circle Sanitation are on Wednesdays except for major holidays, then the pick up will be the very next business day. If there is a significant weather event, they will wait until the first business day after the weather clears.

We ask that residents ensure that garbage is put in the dumpsters, and that the lids be closed after dumping garbage. On windiy days please be mindful to pick up any fly away debirs, to help keep the area clean.
